for cave entrance shafts. Very tiring work in the heat of the day - we found it difficult to breathe, thought maybe it was altitude at nearly 11000ft , but as soon as we got underground, even a 100ft, we felt full of beans and super fit ! I think it was the air being so dry - total lack of humidity. It was certainly something - I have happily climbed out of a 1000ft shaft on rope with no real problems, only to find that once out into the midday conditions hardly able to put one foot in front of the other. I spent a continuous 8 weeks up here - an experiece I would not have missed for the world - good memories. * |
