Photographs fron the 1977 British Speleological Expedition to the Zagros Mts, Iran.
In 1977, eighteen cavers from mostly the SW area - Mendip, S.Wales and the Forest of Dean - set out for the area above Palangan - about 75 miles west of Kermanshah and at about 11.000 ft.
Since we bought an old Bristol Bus and drove there, it proved to be quite a trip - but somehow it proved valuable since by the time we got to that mountain we had become a somewhat ragged bunch - more suited to some Spaghetti Western - ideally prepared though for 2 months of sparse existence living in conditions that even the mountain Kurds found difficult.
